Biography:

Mariya Yanko was born in 1960 and graduated from the Trush Decorative and Applied Art College in Lvov, Ukraine and National Art Institute (currently the Academy of Fine Arts) in Lvov. Since 1992 she has worked as a folk art teacher in the Children's Folk Art School. Her students are recipients of numerous awards at competitions in the Ukraine and abroad. Mariya also runs workshops for the teachers. She was awarded the 2^nd Prize for her didactical work at the Ukrainian National Non-School Artistic Establishments for Children Teachers Competition. She belongs to the Ukrainian Painters Union. She works with watercolours, oil painting and graphics, and creates her artworks using folk techniques.
