Biography:

Anna Więckowska-Kowalska was born in Łódź, Poland and graduated from the Secondary School of Fine Arts Complex in Łódź, Poland. She finished cultural studies and pedagogical studies at the University of Łódź and the Faculty of Textile Art of the State Higher School of Visual Arts in Łódź in 1986. Anna works as an artist, pedagogue and therapist. She works with unique textiles and miniature textiles. She has participated in many exhibitions in Poland and abroad, including: the “Textures et Textiles” exhibition in Luxembourg in 1986; the International Biennial of Miniature Textile in Szombathely, Hungary, in 1986, 1988, 1994, 1996 and 1998; the “Jugend Gestaltet” exhibition in Monachium in 1987; the “Configura 1, Kunst In Europa” exhibition in the Galerie am Fischmarket in Erfurt, Germany in 1991; the Polish National Exhibition of Miniature Textile in the Museum of Textiles in Łódź in 1992, 2001, 2007, 2010 and 2013; the 4^th International Textile Competition in Kyoto, Japan in 1994; the International Baltic Triennial of Miniature Textiles in the Museum of the City of Gdynia in 2004, 2007, 2010 and 2013 – Grand Prix in 2010; the City of Gdynia Prize in 2013; the “Z krosna do Krosna” International Artistic Linen Cloth Biennial in the Museum of Crafts in Krosno, Poland in 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2012 – the “Akapi” Foundation Prize in 2008; the XVII Mostra Internazionale d’Arte Contemporanea “filare il tempo” in Como, Italy, in 2007; the Small Painting Forms Biennial in “Wozownia” Art Gallery in Toruń, Poland, in 2007; and the International Biennial of Miniature Textile in Szombathely, Hungary, in 2009 and 2012.
