Biography: Aleksandra Zuba-Benn is a graduate of the State Higher School of Visual Arts (currently the University of Arts) in Poznań and received her diploma in the Tapestry Studio of Prof. Magdalena Abakanowicz (1986). She obtained a doctorate at the Faculty of Arts of the Pedagogical University in Krakow (2010). The artist is a lecturer at The University of Applied Sciences in Tarnów. She has belonged to the Association of Polish Artists and Designers and presented her works at 35 individual exhibitions, including: Poznań, Tarnów, Kraków, Bytom, Lublin, Warsaw, Kielce, Kaysersberg (France), Goedereede (Netherlands) and approx. 140 group exhibitions in Poland, France, Ireland, Ukraine, Slovakia, Hungary, Belgium, Sweden, the Netherlands. She has been a winner of many awards: The Award in honour of Agnieszka Sienkiewicz at XXIV Międzynarodowa Wystawa Poplenerowa – Kowary 97 (1998); Award of the Mayor of The City of Tarnów (2001, 2004, 2010); Award of the Director of the Culture Department of The City of Tarnów (2005); Special Award of the Mayor of the City of Tarnów at the “Silver Quadrangle” International Painting Triennial of Carpathian Region, BWA Przemyśl (2006); Award of the Director of the BWA in Tarnów, the Management Board of the Association of Polish Artists and Designers (2013); 2nd Award of Salon Zimowy of the Association of Polish Artists and Designers/Tarnow District (2015); Special Award by BWA Rzeszów at the “Silver Quadrangle” International Painting Triennial of Carpathian Region, BWA Przemyśl (2018). The artist works in unique fabrics, painting, paper art and artistic wicker. She lives and works in Tarnów.
