Biography: Marzena Fiszczuk was born in 1970 in Krzeszowice near Kraków. She is a graduate of the Higher Pedagogical School in Krakow, Institute of Art Education, with the Diploma in Painting in Prof. Grażyna Borowik-Pieniek’s Studio (1998). She continued education at postgraduate studies in Painting and Drawing at the Faculty of Graphics and Painting of the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź. She works in the field of textile art, painting and satirical drawing. Marzena Fiszczuk has been teaching textile art at the Art School Complex in Tarnów for 30 years. Her major awards and distinctions include: “Z krosna do Krosna” International Artistic Linen Cloth Biennial, Museum of Crafts in Krosno: Awarded Mention – 2004, Nomination for the Prize - 2014, Awarded Mention – 2004, Awarded Mention – 2016; 5th Salon Wiosenny, BWA, Tarnów, 2018 – 2nd Prize. Her elected individual and collective exhibitions include: International Exhibition SATYRYKON, Legnica (1997, 2003); Zemun International Salon of Caricature, Zemun, Yugoslavia (2000); International Baltic Mini Textile Triennial, Gdynia (2004); National Exhibition of the Polish Miniature Textiles, Łódź (2001, 2004, 2010, 2013, 2016, 2019); “Miniatura tkacka ze zbiorów Muzeum Miasta Gdyni”, Muzeum im. ks. dr. Władysława Łęgi, Grudziądz (2016); 1st Textile Art Biennial in Poznań (2017); “Z krosna do Krosna” International Artistic Linen Cloth Biennial – participation in premiere and travelling exhibitions in Poland, Slovakia, Hungary (2004-2020); “9 x Z krosna do Krosna”. Praca Od nasionka do krosna I jest jedną z cyklu prac „Kruchość natury”. Cały cykl prac zawiera pojedyncze prace, których podstawowym surowcem jest len jako roślina i materia tkacka. Ideą całego cyklu jest wnikliwa analiza piękna roślin, ich wzrostu, kwitnienia oraz przekwitania. Nawiązuje tym samym do życia ludzkiego – jego narodzin rozwoju i kresu dni. Kruchość natury i maleńkiego pobytu Nas jako istot będących jej częścią daje wiele przemyśleń, jak niedoceniana jest jej rola w naszym życiu. Delikatna i subtelna roślina lnu jest zarazem mocna i silna jako materiał tkacki. Len jest moim ulubionym włóknem i jednocześnie niewyczerpaną inspiracją twórczą.
